It has been about two months since I posted the Toree 2 review. Although I wasn’t planning on taking the rest of 2021 off, that seemed to be what happened. It was honestly three things that kept me away for a while. The first one was course papers that took a lot of my personal writing time away. I was working on a heavy research paper throughout the entirety of November, and it came out great. It’s honestly the greatest thing I wrote last year. The second was a very personal matter that came up during Winter break that really made me take time away from work, I wasn’t in the right mental space then. However, I am doing fine now. Lastly, I just lost some motivation and fell into writer’s block. I didn’t feel like reviewing anything or even writing about video games, which is what this blog was about.
Now the update part of this post. This year is going to be a different year for the blog. I want to begin experimenting with different content. I still plan to occasionally do reviews, but I want to do just general opinionated, and factual pieces, in order to discuss other things I’m interested in. I’m also interested in the idea of writing fictional stories, and other creative writing pieces, but there’s no guarantee I’ll start doing that on the blog.
So what do I have in mind to write about this year? Well, I don’t have a definite list of things, but I do have a few things on my mind. One is a piece about a video game manga called Super Mario Kun. I’ve been reading the English-translated collection of this manga, titled Super Mario Manga Mania. This collection has been a great read and has honestly made me interested in Super Mario Kun, so expect something on it this year. Outside of that, I have a big review planned on a service that interests me. I’m going to leave that one to myself though because I don’t know if it will actually become a review, it all depends on if the service has a ton to talk about. Other than that, I don’t have any specific topic planned, but that will definitely change in the months to come.
Is there anything else to cover? Well, I still want to continue recording, and uploading footage of various obscure, but great itch.io indie games. I do have a few videos that I’ve recorded and should have uploaded a while ago, so I’ll probably get on that in the days to come. The main problem I have with doing the videos is simply the fact that I don’t have great recording software. I’m very limited in what I can do, so I can’t promise any specific game to record. My PC is also not that powerful, so that also limits me on what I can do. I will try to do what I can, but there are no promises that I can give.
There are also two games that I am very interested in and plan on picking up in 2022. The first game is Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the first mainline 3d Kirby game. I have always been a massive Kirby fan, and am very excited to see the series in 3d for the first time, not including spin-offs. I’m also planning to grab Splatoon 3 when it comes out in 2022. Splatoon 2 has become one of my favorite games of all time, and I believe this sequel can be even better. I’m mentioning this, because I might do a piece on these games, especially on Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
I am certainly looking forward to 2022. I want it to be a big year for my writing, and truly be a year filled with content that I’m proud of. There’s no guarantee on my first post, but I hope to make it sometime this month. Let’s all hope for a great 2022.
