Conduct TOGETHER! Review

Conduct TOGETHER! is a little made for the Nintendo Switch, by Northplay that was released on December 6th, 2018. The game cost $19.99, but I got it on sale for one cent on the Eshop. Sounds unbelievable, but there might be a reason why it was on sale for that cheap. Even though I got the game for a cent, I’ll be judging it based on the nearly twenty dollar price tag.

Conduct TOGETHER! is an overhead management game about trains. You have two things to control, your trains, and rail switches. You use the D-pad to control the rails. One direction controls one of the rail switches, and you can up to four in a mission. You also have to control the breaks on the trains. The four face buttons control the trains similar to how the switches are controlled. You can also use the touchscreen to control everything if that’s your kind of thing. The game has a simple goal, transport a certain amount of passengers in the time allotted. Failure to do it in the allotted time, or if you crash the trains will result in failure, and get ready to do that often. One thing you can do is hold the ZL, and ZR buttons to slow down time, but I rarely use this feature.

I like this game, I find it to be enjoyable for one of those Switch games that can be considered shovelware. The game is not for everyone though. This game is difficult, even the game plays that fact up, but it’s never unfair, and with enough practice, and memorization you should get through it. The game is split up in regions, and you have to buy regions with coins you get from being the stages. After you beat all the stages in the region, you get a new train model. This is purely cosmetic, but it’s a nice feature. Finally, each stage ranks your performance out of three stars, which encourages replayability on stages that you might mess up.

The main problem with Conduct TOGETHER! is it's twenty dollar price tag. The game is not worth 20 dollars. I would’ve left it there, but as I was doing research on the game, I found out there were two other versions of this game. There's Conduct DELUXE! for PC, and Conduct THIS! For Android, and IOS. This bothers me, because Conduct DELUXE! is ten dollars on Steam, and Conduct THIS! is free. The only difference with these versions and the Switch version is that the Switch game has local multiplayer. I honestly can’t recommend getting the Switch version unless it goes on sale again. If Conduct TOGETHER! sounds interesting to you, just get it on IOS, or Android under Conduct THIS! And if you really need physical controls, get the PC version if your PC can run a low spec game.
